INSIGHT FOR LIVING is the Bible Teaching ministry of Charles R. Swindoll. Our 30 minute radio broadcast airs worldwide. Along with broadcasting messages from God’s Word, Insight for Living also supports our listeners in their personal and spiritual growth through Christian resources and services.

Insight for Living, Inc. an Incorporated, not-for-profit Association, was registered in Victoria, Australia in 1987. The ministry was established as an administrative office, distributing resources and supporting the growing radio network in Australia. Since then it has grown in size to accommodate the ever-growing needs of listeners and callers on over 130 radio stations and 350+ frequencies in Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific.

Each month our office in Boronia receives over 2,000 letters, phone calls and emails from listeners. Those who make contact with us often have deep personal needs. Our staff provides a caring, listening ear and often refer callers to IFLUSA’s pastorally trained counsellors or to local affiliated organisations.

Our aim is to provide simple, clear and relevant Bible teaching and resources that will help people better understand who Jesus is and will deepen their relationship with God.

With recent advances in technology, IFLA is reaching out beyond radio alone to give as many Australians as possible the chance to hear God’s Word.

In 2009, IFLA launched its vision for Australia. Built upon 5 Pillars of Pastoral Ministry, IFLA wants to see God’s Word proclaimed boldly to current and future listeners, using a range of media relevant to their respective cultures. We have a passion to help people apply the Bible to their lives.

Podcasts, the IFLA website, Facbook and other new media are being used to communicate Biblical truths relevant to life.

Since June 2010, and in response to a comprehensive ministry survey, IFLA is now seeking to respond to the needs of the life stages of the 20-40 year old age group. This is both exciting and challenging as we serve the needs of those who have supported the ministry over the past 23 years, and look to new strategies for reaching young adults.

The first step towards realizing our goals will be the appointment of a young, theologically trained, ministry experienced, pastor to IFLA.

Executive Director
Peter Tyrrell is the Executive Director of Insight for Living Australia. He joined IFL in October 2003 and has the desire to see Insight for Living provide a growing level of pastoral ministry to the Asia-Pacific region. Prior to his time at Insight for Living, Peter worked for Focus on the Family Australia as the national operations manager, and was co-developer of programs like 'How to Drug Proof Your Kids', 'Heritage Builders', and 'No Apologies'. Peter started his career as a primary school teacher before moving into the corporate sector, where he held senior positions in a national telecommunications company. Peter has been married to his wife, Cornelia, since 1983. They live in outer-Eastern Melbourne and have 4 grown up daughters.

Statement of Faith

The Statement of Faith provides a theological basis for all teaching, discussions and programs created or conducted by Insight for Living.

1. The Scriptures, both Old and New Testaments, are the inspired Word of God without error in the original writings, and complete revelation of His will for the salvation of men, and the divine and final authority for all Christian faith and life.

2. There is one God, Creator of all things, infinitely perfect, and eternally existing in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

3. Jesus Christ is true God and true man, having been conceived of the Holy Ghost and born of the virgin Mary, he died on the cross a sacrifice for our sins according to the Scriptures. Further, He arose bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven, where at the right hand of the Majesty on High, He is now our High Priest and Advocate.

4. The ministry of the Holy Spirit is to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ and, during this age, to convict men of sin, regenerate the believing sinner, indwell, guide, instruct, and empower the believer for godly living and service.

5. Man was created in the image of God but fell into sin and is therefore lost, and only through regeneration by the Holy Spirit can salvation and spiritual life be obtained.

6. The shed blood of Jesus Christ and His resurrection provide the only ground for the justification and salvation for all who believe, and only such as receive Jesus Christ by faith are born of the Holy Spirit and thus become the children of God.

7. The personal, premillennial, and imminent return of our Lord Jesus Christ is our "blessed hope" and has a vital bearing on the personal life and service of the believer.

8. There will be bodily resurrection of all the dead; of the believer to everlasting blessedness and joy with the Lord, and of the unbeliever to judgment and everlasting conscious punishment.

9. The true Church is composed of all such persons, who, through saving faith in Jesus Christ, have been regenerated by the Holy Spirit and are united together in the body of Christ of which He is the Head.

10. Water baptism by immersion soon after accepting Christ as personal Saviour is a testimony of death to sin and resurrection to a new life, and the Lord's supper is a memorial service setting forth in sacred and symbolic manner the death of the Lord Jesus Christ; all true believers and only believers should share in it.
